Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Fairfax had an population of 23,294 people. This is an increase of 3.23% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 8.35% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Fairfax had a population of 22,565 people.

The population of Fairfax represents 0.28% of the population of Virginia (which has 8,001,024 people), making it the state's 26th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 22,565 people, the population of Fairfax increased 4.96% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 21,498 people).
