Widtsoe would have been located within present day Garfield County.
Widtsoe was established in 1876.
The community of Widtsoe was named Winder before it was changed to Widtsoe and going back to its beginning, it was originally named Adairville.<2>
The origin (or the toponymy) of Widtsoe: Named after John A. Widtsoe (1872-1952), president of the University of Utah and a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints.
While the community is gone, the present day location for Widtsoe is 7,600 feet [2,316 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the elevation of Widtsoe is about 1½ mile [or ~2¼ km] above sea level.
