So far, we found very little information about Texon. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Texon was located in Big Bend Country (West Texas).

Texon would have been located within present day Reagan County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Texon, you might consider that their post office opened in 1926.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Texon is 2,720 feet [829 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the elevation of Texon is about ½ mile above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Texon was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Texon to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Texon in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Texon was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Texon post office opened in 1926. The Texon post office closed in 1988.
