Monterey was located While we don't have the exact location of Monterey , we believe that it would have been located within present day Hill County<2>. While we don't have a date for the founding of Monterey, you might consider that their post office opened in 1873. When the people of Monterey referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Montereyan<3> Time Zone: The area where Monterey was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time If Monterey still existed, it would have been in the (254) area code. While we believe that this Monterey is located in Hill County, we know of another 2 Texas communities named Monterey. Those communities are located in the following counties: Angelina and Marion County. Beyond Texas, there are 35 communities that are also named Monterey - they are located in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky (2), Louisiana (2), Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Ohio (3), Pennsylvania (5), South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
