At the time of the 2010 Census, Lampasas had a population of 6,681 people (or 33.95% of the total population of Lampasas County). This makes Lampasas the county's most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Lampasas was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Lampasas post office opened in 1857.
