While our initial information about Hamby came from various goverment sources (GNIS, FIPS), we also found mention of Hamby in various books and other sources.

Hamby is contained in a comprehensive list of Post Offices that was created by Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<1>
From that list:
The Hamby post office opened in 1902 and had closed by 1919.
