Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Groves had an population of 15,405 people. This is a decrease of 4.58% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 2.08% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Groves had a population of 16,144 people (or 6.39% of the total population of Jefferson County). This makes Groves the county's 4th most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Groves was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Groves post office opened in 1929.
