The Commemorative Quarter for Texas

Welcome to Chadwick ...

So far, we found very little information about Chadwick. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Chadwick to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Chadwick - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Chadwick, please Contact Us.

Chadwick was located in Hill Country.

While we don't have the exact location of Chadwick , we believe that it would have been located within present day Lampasas County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Chadwick, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1910.

Time Zone: The area where Chadwick was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

The Area Codes where Chadwick was located: 512 & 737<3>

Communities Also Named Chadwick ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 14 communities that are also named Chadwick - they are located in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois (2), Maryland (2), Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina (2), North Dakota, Ohio and South Carolina.

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Chadwick.

Adding Chadwick to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Chadwick in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Chadwick was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

X2X - From that list, the Chadwick post office opened in 1910.

We also found Chadwick in the book titled SPV's Comprehensive Railroad Atlas of North America - Texas.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Chadwick, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Texas' counties, including Lampasas, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 512 code has been Overlayed with the 737 area code. New phone numbers in the Chadwick area will be assigned with one of these codes: 512 or 737. As a result, placing a call in the Chadwick area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
