Welcome to Africa ...

So far, we found very little information about Africa. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Africa was located in the Piney Woods (East Texas).

Africa would have been located within present day Shelby County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Africa, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1920.

Time Zone: The area where Africa was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source (so far) we've referenced which mentioned Africa was on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1920.
