Taken from the 2018 Census Estimates, Kingsport had an population of 54,076 people. This is an increase of 12.18% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 20.42% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Kingsport had a population of 48,205 people (or 30.74% of the total population of Sullivan County). This makes Kingsport the county's most populous community.

The population of Kingsport represents 0.76% of the population of Tennessee (which has 6,346,105 people), making it the state's 12th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 48,205 people, the population of Kingsport increased 7.35% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 44,905 people).
