At the time of the 2010 Census, Ashton had a population of 122 people. This makes Ashton the county's 8th most populous community.

The population of Ashton represents 0.01% of the population of South Dakota (which has 814,180 people), making it the state's 290th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 122 people, the population of Ashton decreased 19.74% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 152 people).
