Welcome to Hebron ...

So far, we found very little information about Hebron. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Hebron to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Hebron - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Hebron, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Hebron , we believe that it would have been located within present day Spartanburg County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Hebron, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1855.

Time Zone: The area where Hebron was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Hebron would have been located in the (864) area code.

Communities Also Named Hebron ...

While we believe that this Hebron is located in Spartanburg County, we know of another 2 South Carolina communities named Hebron. Those communities are located in the following counties: Marlboro and Williamsburg County.

Beyond South Carolina, there are 56 communities that are also named Hebron - they are located in Alabama (4), Arkansas (2), California, Colorado (2), Connecticut, Georgia (2), Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas (2), Kentucky, Louisiana (2), Maine, Manitoba, Maryland, Mississippi (5), Missouri (3), Nebraska, New Brunswick, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Newfoundland and Labrador, North Carolina (2), North Dakota, Nova Scotia, Ohio, Pennsylvania (2), Prince Edward Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia (3), West Virginia (2) and Wisconsin.

Adding Hebron to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Hebron in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Hebron was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Hebron post office opened in 1855.

We also found Hebron in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Hebron, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of South Carolina's counties, including Spartanburg, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
