Time Zone: Charette lies in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time. The time zone in French: EST- Heure Normale de l'Est (HNE), EDT- Heure Avancée de l'Est (HAE).
As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.
The earliest source (so far) we've referenced which mentioned Charette was mentioned on a train schedule titled Canadian National Railroad Time Tables (October 1960).
When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 819 code has been Overlayed with one of the following codes: 468 or 873. New phone numbers in the Charette area will be assigned with one of these codes: 819, 468 or 873. As a result, placing a call in the Charette area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).

The Canadian Postal Codes were created as a way of grouping addresses to make delivery more efficient. So keep in mind that any given Postal Code is only 'loosely' associated with a community (such as Charette). The boundaries of the Postal Code can be changed, re-assigned, eliminated or overlapped with other Postal Codes. When looking for a Postal Code, whether Charette or elsewhere, it's always best to check the website of the Canada Post / Postes Canada.
