Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Windber had an population of 3,824 people. This is a decrease of 7.59% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 12.99% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Windber had a population of 4,138 people (or 5.32% of the total population of Somerset County). This makes Windber the county's 2nd most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Windber was on a map titled Map of Pennsylvania (from Rand McNally, 1911).
