The population of Somerset represents 0.05% of the total population of Pennsylvania (which has 12,702,379 people), making it the state's 141st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 6,277 people, the population of Somerset decreased 7.17% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 6,762 people).
