From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Port Providence was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

X2X - From that list, the Port Providence post office opened in 1850.

We also found Port Providence in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).
