While we don't have a date for the founding of New Salem, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1911.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, New Salem has a population of 793 people<3> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, New Salem had an population of 793 people. This is an increase of 9.53% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 22.38% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, New Salem had a population of 724 people. This makes New Salem the county's 26th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 724 people, the population of New Salem increased 11.73% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 648 people).
