Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Allentown had an population of 121,406 people. This is an increase of 2.86% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 13.86% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Allentown had a population of 118,032 people (which is 33.77% of the total population of Lehigh County). This makes Allentown the county's most populous community.

The population of Allentown represents 0.93% of the population of Pennsylvania (which has 12,702,379 people), making it the state's 3rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 118,032 people, the population of Allentown increased 10.69% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 106,632 people).

We originally found mention of Allentown in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Allentown was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Allentown post office opened in 1803.

We also found Allentown in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
