While we don't have a date for the founding of Valsetz, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1949. The origin (or the toponymy) of Valsetz: The name Valsetz is a portmanteau<3>, which reflects that the town was a terminus of the Valley and Siletz Railroad. While the community is gone, the present day location for Valsetz is 1,110 feet [338 m] above sea level.<4>. Time Zone: The area where Valsetz was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time The location where Valsetz once stood is in the (503) and (971)<5> area codes.
