Welcome to Jett ...

So far, we found very little information about Jett. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Jett would have been located within present day Baker County<2>.


The location of Jett has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Jett, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1895.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Jett is 2,280 feet [695 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Jett is about ½ mile above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Jett was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel west from Jett, you will soon leave Pacific Time and cross into the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT).

The location where Jett once stood is in the (541) and (458)<5> area codes.

We originally found mention of Jett in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Jett was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Jett post office opened in 1895.

We also found Jett mentioned on a train schedule titled Union Pacific Railroad Time Tables (September 1924).
