At the time of the 2010 Census, Brookings had a population of 6,336 people (which is 28.31% of the total population of Curry County). This makes Brookings the county's most populous community.

The population of Brookings represents 0.17% of the population of Oregon (which has 3,831,074 people), making it the state's 69th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 6,336 people, the population of Brookings increased 16.32% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 5,447 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Brookings was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>
