Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Pawnee had an population of 2,108 people. This is a decrease of 4.01% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 5.47% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Pawnee had a population of 2,196 people (or 13.24% of the total population of Pawnee County). This makes Pawnee the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Pawnee represents 0.06% of the population of Oklahoma (which has 3,751,351 people), making it the state's 135th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 2,196 people, the population of Pawnee decreased 1.52% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 2,230 people).

We originally found mention of Pawnee in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Pawnee was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Pawnee post office opened in 1893.

We also found Pawnee in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
