At the time of the 2010 Census, Cushing had a population of 7,826 people (which is 10.11% of the total population of Payne County). This makes Cushing the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 7,826 people, the population of Cushing decreased 6.51% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 8,371 people).

We originally found mention of Cushing in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Cushing was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

X2X - From that list, the Cushing post office opened in 1891.

We also found Cushing in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
