Welcome to Unison ...

So far, we found very little information about Unison. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Unison to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Unison - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Unison, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Unison , we believe that it would have been located within present day Delaware County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Unison, you might consider that their post office opened in 1830.

Time Zone: The area where Unison was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Unison in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Unison was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Unison post office opened in 1830.

We also found Unison in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).

However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. <3>	When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 740 code has been Overlayed with the 220 area code. New phone numbers in the Unison area will be assigned with one of these codes: 740 or 220. As a result, placing a call in the Unison area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
