The community of Delaware is the Seat for Delaware County.

Delaware County was founded April 1, 1808 and was created by taking area from Franklin County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Delaware had a population of 209,768 people. This is an increase of 20.41% since the last Census (which gave a population of 174,214 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Delaware represented 1.51% of the total population of Ohio.
