While our initial information about Sumner came from various goverment sources (GNIS, FIPS), we also found mention of Sumner in various books and other sources.

We've created the following list to keep track of the sources that proved useful in adding to our knowledge about Sumner. We hope that they will be useful to you.

Note: Initially, we were careless about keeping track of where our Sumner data came from. The following list of references and mentions is incomplete.

 

Sumner is contained in a comprehensive list of Post Offices that was created by Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<1>

From that list:

The Sumner post office opened in 1891 and had closed by 1948.
