Welcome to Sheldon ...

So far, we found very little information about Sheldon. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Sheldon to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Sheldon - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Sheldon, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Sheldon , we believe that it would have been located within present day Perry County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Sheldon, you might consider that their post office opened in 1880.

Time Zone: The area where Sheldon was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Sheldon would have been located in the (740) area code.

While we believe that this Sheldon is located in Perry County, we know of another 3 Ohio communities named Sheldon. Those communities are located in the following counties: Ottawa, Pickaway and Vinton County.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sheldon was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Sheldon post office opened in 1880.
