At the time of the 2010 Census, Shadyside had a population of 3,785 people (which is 5.38% of the total population of Belmont County). This makes Shadyside the county's 5th most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Shadyside was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Shadyside post office opened in 1893.
