Welcome to Friends ...

So far, we found very little information about Friends. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Friends to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Friends - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Friends, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Friends , we believe that it would have been located within present day Ashland County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Friends, you might consider that their post office opened in 1854.

Time Zone: The area where Friends was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Ohio communities named Friends: This one is located in Ashland County and the other is located in Knox County.

We originally found mention of Friends in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Friends was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Friends post office opened in 1854.
