Welcome to Ego ...

So far, we found very little information about Ego. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Ego to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Ego - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Ego, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Ego , we believe that it would have been located within present day Vinton County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Ego, you might consider that their post office opened in 1889.

Time Zone: The area where Ego was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Ego would have been located in the (740) area code.

We originally found mention of Ego in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Ego was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Ego post office opened in 1889.

We also found Ego in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
