Huron County was founded March 7, 1809. Huron was created by taking area from Portage and Cuyahoga Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Huron had a population of 58,269 people. This is a decrease of 2.28% since the last Census (which gave a population of 59,626 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Huron represented 0.52% of the total population of Ohio.
