The community of Millersburg is the Seat for Holmes County.

Holmes County was founded January 20, 1824. Holmes was created by taking area from Coshocton, Wayne and Tuscarawas Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Holmes had a population of 44,021 people. This is an increase of 3.91% since the last Census (which gave a population of 42,366 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Holmes represented 0.37% of the total population of Ohio.
