Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Amsterdam had an population of 473 people. This is a decrease of 7.44% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 16.73% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Amsterdam had a population of 511 people. This makes Amsterdam the county's 9th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 511 people, the population of Amsterdam decreased 10.04% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 568 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Amsterdam was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Amsterdam post office opened in 1832.

We also found Amsterdam in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
