The location of Allentown

Welcome to Allentown ...

So far, we have found very little information about Allentown. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Allentown to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Allentown - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Allentown, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Allentown, we believe that it would have been located within present day Clark County.

The pronunciation of Allentown: AL-ehn-town<2>

When the people of Allentown referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Allentonian<3>

Time Zone: The area where Allentown was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Allentown still existed, it would have been in the (937) area code.

Communities Also Named Allentown ...

While we believe that this Allentown is located in Clark County, we know of another 3 Ohio communities named Allentown. Those communities are located in the following counties: Allen, Fayette and Scioto County.

Beyond Ohio, there are 22 communities that are also named Allentown - they are located in Arizona, Connecticut (2), Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, New York (2), Oregon, Pennsylvania (2), South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Allentown, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.

<2>The pronunciation we've provided is our attempt to give a phonetic pronunciation for Allentown. While it might not be exactly right, hopefully it will be close. If we have it wrong or there's a better way to pronounce the name, please contact us through our Feedback Page.

<3>A demonym is the name for a resident of a community which is usually derived from (or is related to) the name of that community. In other words, it's how the residents of Allentown refer to themselves. It's important to note that there aren't any rules for taking a community's name and turning it into a demonym. A demonym is informal and while the majority of Allentown may use one name, keep in mind that others may use something different.
