While we don't have a date for the founding of Oswego, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Oswego had an population of 17,249 people. This is a decrease of 4.92% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 3.93% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Oswego had a population of 18,142 people (or 14.86% of the total population of Oswego County). This makes Oswego the county's most populous community.
