So far, we found very little information about Sheridan. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Sheridan would have been located within present day Douglas County<2>.



Sheridan was established circa 1855.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Sheridan is 4,810 feet [1,466 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Sheridan is about 1 mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Sheridan was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Sheridan in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sheridan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Sheridan post office opened in 1865.

We also found Sheridan in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
