Douglas County is one of the original counties of Nevada and was founded November 25, 1861.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Douglas had a population of 48,998 people. This is an increase of 4.26% since the last Census (which gave a population of 46,997 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Douglas represented 1.74% of the total population of Nevada.
