Platora was founded in 1909.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Platora is 4,610 feet [1,405 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Platora is about ¾ mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Platora was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Platora post office opened in 1909. The Platora post office closed in 1925.
