Welcome to Peko ...

So far, we found very little information about Peko. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Peko to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Peko - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Peko, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Peko , we believe that it would have been located within present day Elko County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Peko, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1883.

Time Zone: The area where Peko was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

The location where Peko once stood is in the (775) area code.

Adding Peko to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Peko was on a map titled George#&160;F. Cram Map of Nevada (1883).

We also found Peko in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Peko, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Nevada's counties, including Elko, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
