The location of Cooper has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Cooper, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1883. While the community is gone, the present day location for Cooper is 6,550 feet [1,996 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Cooper is 1¼ mile [or ~2 km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Cooper was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time If Cooper still existed, it would have been in the (775) area code.
