Welcome to Coaldale (aka 'Coaldale Junction') ...

So far, we found very little information about Coaldale. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Coaldale would have been located within present day Esmeralda County<2>.



While we don't have a date for the founding of Coaldale, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1904.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Coaldale is 4,580 feet [1,396 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Coaldale is about ¾ mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Coaldale was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Coaldale would have been located in the (775) area code.

Adding Coaldale to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Coaldale in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Coaldale was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Coaldale post office opened in 1904.

We also found Coaldale mentioned on a train schedule titled Tonopah & Goldfield Railroad Employees' Time Table #29 (June 1924).
