Walton is located on the west coast of Nova Scotia (on the Minas Basin, at the northeast end of the Bay of Fundy).
While we don't have a date for the founding of Walton, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1897.
Time Zone: Walton lies in the Atlantic Time Zone (AST/ADT) and observes daylight saving time. The time zone in French: AST- Heure Normale de l'Atlantique (HNA), ADT- Heure Avancée de l'Atlantique (HAA).

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.
The earliest source (so far) we've referenced which mentioned Walton was on a map titled Map of Maritime Provinces of Canada (from Rand McNally, 1897).
The elevation is an estimate for the area around Walton - it will be higher in some places and lower in others.

When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 902 code has been Overlayed with the 782 area code. New phone numbers in the Walton area will be assigned with one of these codes: 902 or 782.
