Welcome to Yates ...So far, we found very little information about Yates. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Yates to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. If you can help us with Yates, please Contact Us. Yates would have been located within present day Harding County<2>. The location of Yates has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Yates, you might consider that their post office opened in 1923. While the community is gone, the present day location for Yates is 5,610 feet [1,710 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Yates is about 1 mile [or ~1¾ km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Yates was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you travel east from Yates, you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT). If Yates still existed, it would have been in the (575) area code.
