Welcome to Tate ...So far, we found very little information about Tate. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Tate to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. The location of Tate has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Tate, you might consider that their post office opened in 1913. While the community is gone, the present day location for Tate is 5,260 feet [1,603 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Tate is about 1 mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Tate was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you travel east from Tate (for example, toward Texline (TX)), you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT). If Tate still existed, it would have been in the (575) area code.
