Welcome to Sylvanite ...

So far, we found very little information about Sylvanite. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Sylvanite to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Sylvanite - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Sylvanite, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Sylvanite , we believe that it would have been located within present day Hidalgo County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Sylvanite, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1908.

Time Zone: The area where Sylvanite was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Sylvanite to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Sylvanite was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Sylvanite post office opened in 1908.
