The Commemorative Quarter for New Mexico

Welcome to Pioneer ...

So far, we found very little information about Pioneer. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Pioneer to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Pioneer - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Pioneer, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Pioneer , we believe that it would have been located within present day Chaves County<2>.

Time Zone: The area where Pioneer was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Pioneer still existed, it would have been in the (575) area code.

Communities Also Named Pioneer ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two New Mexico communities named Pioneer: This one is located in Chaves County and the other is located in Lea County.

Beyond New Mexico, there are 35 communities that are also named Pioneer - they are located in Alabama, Arizona (3), California (3), Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas (2), Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana (4), Nevada, New York, Ohio (2), Oregon (2), Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Washington (2).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Pioneer, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of New Mexico's counties, including Chaves, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
