So far, we found very little information about Montezuma. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>
We've added Montezuma to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Montezuma , we believe that it would have been located within present day Socorro County<2>.
While we don't have a date for the founding of Montezuma, you might consider that their post office opened in 1896.
Time Zone: The area where Montezuma was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time
If Montezuma still existed, it would have been in the (575) area code.

While we believe that this Montezuma is located in Socorro County, we know of another 2 New Mexico communities named Montezuma. Those communities are located in the following counties: San Miguel and Sandoval County.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Montezuma was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>
From that list, the Montezuma post office opened in 1896.
