Welcome to Mentmore ...

So far, we found very little information about Mentmore. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Mentmore was located in northwest New Mexico.

Mentmore would have been located within present day McKinley County<2>.


The location of Mentmore has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Mentmore, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1916.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Mentmore is 6,420 feet [1,957 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Mentmore is about 1¼ mile [or ~2 km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Mentmore was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you leave Mentmore and travel west, you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST). In addition, you will be moving from an area that observes daylight saving time to one that does not.

If Mentmore still existed, it would have been in the (505) area code.

We originally found mention of Mentmore in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Mentmore was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Mentmore post office opened in 1916.
