So far, we found very little information about Hilton. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

While we don't have the exact location of Hilton , we believe that it would have been located within present day Otero County<2>.
While we don't have a date for the founding of Hilton, you might consider that their post office opened in 1887.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two New Mexico communities named Hilton: This one is located in Otero County and the other is located in Dona Ana County.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Hilton was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>
From that list, the Hilton post office opened in 1887.
