While we don't have a date for the founding of Escondida, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1951. While the community is gone, the present day location for Escondida is 4,620 feet [1,408 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Escondida is about ¾ mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.
